Vivotech has selected Zapa Technology as its preferred partner for managed Trusted Service Manager (TSM) services in Europe.
"Zapa Technology has focused on executing commercial NFC programs," says John Nagle, the company's CEO. "Having Vivotech as a partner has enabled us to leverage a best of breed platform that retailers, banks and MNO's can depend on. Vivotech selecting Zapa as its preferred partner to host TSM services to 3rd parties endorses our strategic focus on execution, building compelling retailer and consumer propositions."
"Zapa offers a clear growth path from today's NFC (Near Field Communication) sticker based solutions for existing phones through to future handsets with integrated NFC technology as it becomes available in the marketplace," says the official announcement.
The company, which raised €2.5m in funding in July 2009, currently offers a mobile marketing system that enables consumers to attach a single contactless sticker known as a 'Zapa Tag' to their phone and then use it to participate in multiple retail loyalty and other programmes such as prepaid payments, mobile gift cards and promotions. Zapa Tags are currently being used to provide a loyalty programme for the Irish town of Tuam and at the Insomnia coffee shop chain.
